Dedication and punctuality is all trucker’s live on. There are situations when they don’t get to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or even weekends at home as trucking is one industry which demands work all the time and it is very surprising, you would never hear a trucker cribbing about his job. They love what they do irrespective of how tiring it gets by the end of the day. A trucker owning 15 years of experience said, “I’m a little trucker and trucking’ is what I do best. I’m incomplete without my truck. It serves me as home, shelter and sometime provides me with comfort when I feel lonely and lost”.
IF YOU BOUGHT IT, A TRUCKER BROUGHT IT! If truckers were not around, life would have been totally different. Trouble is welcomed when a delivery is delayed, let be anything in that case. Trucking industry is well framed and whipped with disciplines and schedules, mandatory for all to follow.
A trucker is not only appointed to deliver goods from one destination to another but also carries a big responsibility of filing taxes on time. HVUT is one of those taxes which are imposed on the truckers carrying weight more than 55,000 pounds and crossing 5,000 miles (7,500 miles for agricultural purpose) on public highway. The funds collected are invested in highway maintenance, resurfacing and reconstructing if there is any damage caused.
When IRS came up with filing of taxes, the initial method to file your return was through paper. You can either walk up till IRS local office or mail across the documents and your form 2290 to IRS. Well, both the options are equally time consuming and involves complicated tax calculation. Apart from calculations, you need to wait in long queues, waste a day of your work or more and wait to receive your schedule-1 copy.
Later, with time passing by, IRS announced about e-filing and made it mandatory for truck owners filing for more than 25 vehicles. Here is when every service provider erupted and made its place in the world of taxes. The most advantageous about e-filing is that you can sit anywhere and file your return till you have an active internet connection and a laptop or a tablet to file.
Taxation for the year 2013-2014 is round the corner. Flip your calendar page, collect your documents and sit ready with an active internet connection. You need to file it as soon as possible to stay away from DOT inspection. Stay safe and healthy all day truckers!
